It almost felt like I was wagging school or an afternoon lecture at uni when I arrived for my appointment. The world was its usual lunchtime bustle outside but I had no choice but to leave the real world at the door once I sank into a sofa to wait for my therapist. The quiet, the stillness and the soft lighting were so instantly calming that I’m wondering about the logistics of creating a ‘spa entrance’ corner in the house… somewhere. Perhaps under the desk next to my yoga mat, straps, blanket and bolster? That just might work.
My treatment room featured an extravagant wall of fluffy towels all perfectly folded and rolled. I could admire walls of towels I had no hand in washing, drying or folding forever…
And then there was the treatment. It’s amazing the difference it makes when someone who knows what they’re doing attends to your skin! Who knew you could feel both relaxed and exfoliated after using a body scrub? Plus have baby soft skin for days afterward.
The hour flew by but I definitely felt ready to face the world again with my new skin and clearer mind.
I had a bounce in my step and a grin on my face as I walked home. In my post day spa bubble I was blissfully ignorant of the traffic, the slow pedestrian crossing light, the emails and messages waiting for me on my phone. I’ve already planned the treatment I want next. Now to find the time to make it happen over the next few crazy months in Sydney.

Or perhaps I should be more ambitious and plan a getaway for myself to someplace tropical and do nothing but have outdoor spa treatments until it’s time to come home?
Do you day spa?
