While today is the first official day of winter, the weather actually got the memo early this year. There’s been a decided chill to the air all week that’s been an all day affair rather than the gone by mid morning coolness that was the case last week.
I’ve spent the week cocooned in layers of sweaters, scarves, quilted jackets and … jeggings. I found this pair at the Ralph Lauren outlet in San Marcos on my most recent trip for the ridiculous price of $50. They’re ankle length in a lovely dark denim wash but best of all, the waistband is button and zipper free. They’re so comfortable they’re basically maternity jeans for the post, post partum woman.
I’ve been so diligent with my $5 challenge that I’ve already filled my special collection jar. The lovely young bank teller had to count them all by hand because they were too crumpled to put through the counter. A tip for young players like myself is to use a zip lock bag so that the notes can be kept flat and hence more friendly for your local bank’s bill counter.
An early contender for my favourite foods of winter is udon soup with a pair of tempura prawns. I’m sure I’ll be inhaling my winter staple soups soon enough (from the recipes of Julie Goodwin and the Olivers) but at the moment? It’s all about udon.
Have you given in and counted your tally from the $5 challenge yet?
Do you love a good jegging?
