I think I’ve found myself a new hobby.
Say hello to SSG, weekend tradie.
The glorious weather we’re having in Sydney this weekend inspired me to extend myself in the weekend housekeeping department. With all the usuals done, today felt like the perfect time to tackle some of the more fiddly things I’d been putting off since the beginning of the year. Odds and ends in the garage are now out on the verge for collection (wonder if it’ll all still be there when the council comes around to pick it all up) and I completed a task that I’m very proud of myself for doing. The old curtain tracks are finally down!
For someone who isn’t a natural with hardware, this morning was a steep learning curve. I had no idea that the reason screw drivers have different shaped heads is because they correspond to the various types of screws out there. And there I was thinking it was all just to do with the personal preferences of the … unscrewer?
Once I worked out which screwdriver went with which screw, it actually was a very therapeutic way to spend a sunny Saturday morning. The old tracks fell to the floorboards with a satisfying thunk (no scratches, thank goodness) and the screws plunked into the waiting bin like a tradie version of a slam dunk. Much more rewarding than anything I’ve done with a needle and thread or a spade and potting mix, come to think of it.
I think I’m a natural. The bedroom looks much tidier now. Perhaps I should get myself in training for the next season of The Block. Might need to get myself handy with a drill and paints for that. I’m sure there’s bits of SSG Manor I could practice on.
Let me tell you, this morning’s cup of tea was especially refreshing. I should’ve drunk it from a thermos, tradie style…..
The last of my unpacking from Orlando also happened this morning. My Joe’s Jeans found their new home in my wardrobe and I’m planning to wear the Skinny Ankles to Vivid tonight. I’m so excited. Everyone’s photos from last night’s festival opening look fabulous. It’s going to be a clear and chilly 13C tonight so jeans and my new North Face puffer jacket will be perfect.
After boring you with all my Orlando bargains, it’s only fair that I share a few bargains that you can actually get for yourself. Flipit is an Australian site that specialises in bringing together the best codes from Australia’s big players in etail and they got in touch with me a couple of weeks ago to tell me about their codes for The Iconic featuring discounts of up to 25% on full priced items. With free shipping on orders over $50 and their famous 3 hour delivery to Sydney and Melbourne, what are you waiting for?
Speaking of Joe’s Jeans – the Iconic has their Rolled Skinny Ankle on sale for $167.30 ($239.00). Minus the transpacific (I think I might just have made up that word, it’s not technically transatlantic between Sydney and LA) jet lag. That’s a bargain right there.
Further browsing of The Iconic’s website lead me to their River Island range. River Island is a UK brand I never got around to exploring when I was in London all those years ago (it’s too soon to be planning my next major trip, isn’t it?).
Here are some of my favourites.
The Bridget stripe top $39.95.
And another Bridget, the Bridget dress $99.95.
But enough about my wish list, over to you and I hope the codes come in handy.
Have a lovely weekend.
