Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer and Men’s Facial Fuel Heavy Lifting Moisturizer Launch at Bondi Icebergs.

July starts off a few big months for Kiehl’s Australia. In addition to opening a new flagship store in Sydney’s QVB last week, three major product launches are scheduled between now and October.

As a diehard Kiehl’s fan from way back, it wasn’t hard to accept parent company L’Oreal’s invitation to attend an industry product launch at Bondi Icebergs. The outdoor setting with views across both the lap pool and iconic beach were perfect for the theme of skin rescue as well as to publicise some of the important work Kiehl’s supports through its links with the Bondi Surf Bathers’ Lifesaving Club (that’s the boys of Bondi Rescue to you and I).

The presentation began with a leisurely cup of coffee as we took in the breathtaking view of the beach on a winter’s morning. We also go our first glimpses of a couple of the products to be launched.

Firstly, Skin Rescuer (for women) which will be on counter August 5, 2013.
And a new men’s product, Facial Fuel Heavy Lifting Moisturizer, available September 8, 2013. More about both of these products after the jump.  Being research backed and with dermatologists at the helm of their innovations, Kiehl’s released their own data on the effectiveness of these new products at the launch.  I will be including this data later in the post for those of you who like to make evidence based skin care decisions.
We were joined by two special guests from Bondi Rescue, Anthony Carroll and Trent ‘Maxi’ Maxwell.
Trent is actually CLEO magazine’s Most Eligible Bachelor for 2013. He was so humble about the accolade and inspired me with his passion to use his high profile for a cause most other 21 year olds wouldn’t have much personal involvement with. One of the tragic aspects of being a life guard on Bondi Beach is that a high proportion of the rescues completed relate to suicide attempts. Sadly, the majority of victims are under the age of 30. Trent is in the process of making a film with Headspace (Australia’s national mental health association) to highlight and increase awareness of youth suicide. In addition to using his CLEO prize money to fund the venture, he will be jet skiing from Sydney to Cairns in a sponsored event. So far, he’s attracted around $100 000 in donations.
Trent could only spoke to us briefly before he had to dash off and do some bench presses on the viewing platform. Just kidding. He had to rush off and begin his shift in pretty treacherous conditions.  I felt both seasick and panic on Trent’s behalf watching him head out in the surf.  He made it look so easy…..
Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer Stress Minimizing Daily Hydrator (RRP $48AU, 74 ml)
This moisturizer aims to address the skin’s visible response to stress – redness, fatigue, dehydration and blotchiness. It utilises a triple action formula to break the skin’s stress cycle. Wouldn’t it be great if the same triple threat worked on stress in other aspects of your life?
Skin Rescuer works in the following ways:
  1. Limits the release of stress signals with rosa gallica extract
  2. Protects the skin barrier from future reactions with a mannose, squalone and ceramide blend
  3. Treats, calms and hydrates the skin with chmamole, glycerin and shea butter.

Kiehl’s own clinical testing showed significant improvement in skin condition after 4 weeks of use with all test subjects reporting an improvement in overall skin quality and skin fatigue.

Kiehl’s Facial Fuel “Heavy Lifting” Firming, Lifting, Anti-Wrinkle Moisturizer for Men (RRP $50 AU, 50ml)

The Facial Fuel range is specifically formulated for men’s thicker and coarser skin. Men’s skin is also subject to more damage from UV light, environmental pollutants an daily shaving.
“Heavy Lifting” has two key mechanisms of action:

  1. Exfoliation and smoothing from an LHA Exfoliation Actives complex
  2. Firming and lifting from a linseed extract.

Kiehl’s own 4 week testing showed that 96% of consumers agreed that their skin felt more hydrated and moisturised after using “Heavy Lifting’ and noticed improvements in stubborn signs of aging such as brow furrow lines.

Winter is often a bad time for skin but I hope that these new launches from Kiehl’s will ease the pain for you this year.

SSG was a guest of L’Oreal Luxe at the Kiehl’s product launch.
