Our home delivery service has taken a break for the holiday season and I’ve been left to fend for myself in the fresh produce department. Did I need any other reason to make a detour to Costco on the way home to get the Manor’s fruit and veg sorted for the coming week…. possibly the week after?
I’m having a quiet night in tonight. After back to back weeks of festivities, I’m nesting for the evening with the day’s post, some grapes and plain old filtered water. Usually, when given the choice between InStyle and a random catalogue, the magazine wins. I’m sorry, Ms Heigl but I barely registered your cover girl looks because the Nextdirect.com catalogue was too much of a distraction.
Apparently, nextdirect.com is the largest fashion e-tailer in the UK. And I’m on their mailing list. I wonder how that could have possibly happened. You look as puzzled as I. Nextdirect are now shipping directly to Australia, within 5 days and with dress delivery. As a one off, there is a $10 discount off first orders from the catalogue.
But wait, it gets better. The prices are all in Australian dollars and there are conversion charts for UK to Australian sizes. The range includes womens’ everything (clothes, swimmers, lingerie and shoes) and then there is a full range of children’s wear from newborn to teens with a men’s page (more online) at the back of the catalogue.
For ladies wear, trousers are around the $40 mark and come in different lengths!! Hurrah!!!!!!!!!!!! I also spied flared jeans for $44. Get. Out. Of. Town. Flared jeans, in a skinny jean world. Why oh why did I decide that I’ve already got enough jeans?
I’m also curious about the shoes. They look built for comfort, for the wide footed women of the world like me. These leather options are $63 with bendy soles and a bit of heel. What I said about jeans.
Oh, I am a woman sorely tempted. Sorely. I’m meant to be in this weekend to do a mass clean out of all the bits and bobs I’ve managed to spread across 3 rooms of the house. Perhaps if I do a good enough job, there will be room for some nextdirect? It’s a deal.
I’d been pondering buying a digital radio for ages but ironically, for a modern technology, the hardware has mostly looked more clunky than the radios already in the house. Then, planned senescence stepped in and the stereo died. Mr SSG also needed a Christmas present. The solution to both of these is this Sangean digital radio. It barely takes up any room and is very easy to use (once you read the instruction manual and give up second guessing what the buttons on the remote mean and how they should work).
Finally, we’ve been able to explore all those extra radio stations we’ve heard advertised. We’ve also been able to escape the talk, ads and general nastiness that seem to be endemic in FM radio land. We’ve also lost the static of the AM news stations. The irony of this brave new radio world is that I find myself still listening to the 3 stations I’ve always listened too – Triple J, ABC News Radio and ABC Classic FM.
Have a lovely evening, everyone. It’s wonderfully mild here in Sydney tonight. I’m hoping to make it to Festival First Night tomorrow.
